Ingredients
2 tbsps Extra Virgin Olive Oil
8 ozs Turkey Sausage (casing removed)
1/2 cup Shallot (finely chopped)
1 Apple (large, chopped small)
1/2 oz Unbleached All Purpose Flour
11 ozs Pizza Dough (store bought)
1/4 cup Pesto
3 ozs Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
How to Prepare
With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 450ºF (230ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sausage and shallots. Cook for five to seven minutes, breaking the meat up as it cooks. Let it cool, then mix in the apple.
Meanwhile, lightly dust a clean surface with flour. Roll the dough out to approximately a 1/4-inch (1/2 cm) thick rectangle.
Spread the pesto onto the dough. Add the sausage and apple mixture and sprinkle with cheese.
Roll the dough into a large roll and gently cut it into 1 1/4-inch (3 cm) thick slices.
Lay the slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden and cheese is melted and browned. Enjoy!
